Spring Has Sprung!
After a very long, cold, rainy winter in Mississippi, spring has finally come! Azaleas, Japanese dogwoods, daffodils, and many others that I have no clue as to what they are called, are in bloom. I never thought I would welcome the yellow pollen that covers everything this time of year, but I say “Welcome”! It’s a wonderful time of year...new beginnings, sunshine, Easter celebration, sunshine, warm weather, and more sunshine. I guess it’s evident that we really are pretty desperate for spring’s nice weather.
And we’re already having fun on our campuses -- eagerly looking for every excuse to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. In this issue, we want to share a few of those things happening on campus.
Have a blessed Spring!
Our Hernando Campus had a tea party for the girls at Lisa Langley’s home on our Hernando campus. In addition to tea and cupcakes, the girls had a marvelous time playing dress up with high heels, hats, jewelry and feather boas. They were given instructions on how a southern girl should hold her “pinkie” while sipping tea. And from the looks of the photo above, Becca must have had a hard time deciding just which hat would be perfect for the occasion.

The Revelers Social Club of Mississippi University for Women in Columbus started spring off with a bang recently with an Easter egg hunt for our children. The Easter bunny showed up, too. The Revelers have been sponsoring an Easter egg hunt at Palmer Home for many years.

Brotherhood Cottage Takes a Special Night Out
Cammie and her cottage family enjoy a meal at Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse |
Brotherhood Cottage recently took a special night out and traveled to Birmingham in March. The trip was not only a nice getaway for the cottage, but it was also to celebrate Cami’s 5th birthday. They ate at the Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse, and it was the first time any of the kids had been to a Japanese restaurant. They really enjoyed watching the entertaining chef cook their meal in front of them on the grill at their table. They “dazzled the eyes as well as the tastebuds”. They even prepared an onion volcano and red lava (some type of oil) flowed out of it. They loved that. |
They even prepared an onion volcano and red lava (some type of oil) flowed out of it. They loved that. The chef let them flip an egg and break it on the grill. They presented Cami her very own chopsticks in a gift box, and a pineapple carved to look like a boat. In the photo, you can see her enjoying a very large mouthful of the pineapple They also sang “Happy Birthday” to her while playing a Japanese drum. The entire cottage had a ball! |
